Following the World of Outlaws Late Model Series racing action on Wednesday night, a non-racing related altercation occurred involving drivers Tyler Erb and Hudson O’Neal. The Volusia County(FL) Sheriff’s Department arrested Erb in the early hours of Thursday morning, who they labeled as the ‘primary aggressor’ in the confrontation.
It must be stated here that O’Neal is a minor while Erb is 21-years-old.
Following the arrest, the series released the this official statement:
World of Outlaws Late Model Series officials are aware of the ongoing situation with one of its competitors. Long after racing competition was completed at Volusia Speedway Park during night nine of DIRTcar Nationals, the Volusia County Sheriff department was called to the facility by a third-party for a non-racing-related altercation between Tyler Erb and a fellow driver. Series officials are in contact with the Volusia County Sheriff and will proceed accordingly. The World of Outlaws won’t have any further comment at this time.
On Friday the World of Outlaws Late Model Series made the nature of the penalties against Erb known. The Texas driver has been suspended by the series for two races. Also, he has been fined $500 and will be on probation through December 31, 2018.
Significantly, Erb was a series regular in 2017 and finished sixth in the final standings with ten top-5 finishes and 25 top-10 results. The schedule published on his website indicates that he intends to follow the series again in 2018.

CONCORD, NC — Feb. 15, 2018 — World Racing Group has announced penalties in the World of Outlaws Late Model Series. Per the rulebooks and the integrity of the sport, such infractions shall be announced. Members in good standing have the right to appeal the decision to the World Racing Group Appeals Commission as provided in Section 12 of the General Rules and Specifications.
Tyler Erb, driver of the No. 91 in the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series has violated section 2.2 / 11.1-J of the 2018 DIRTcar Racing Rule Book.
Section 2 – Membership 2.2 Conduct
A.) General – All Members agree to act in a professional manner as determined by World of Outlaws Late Model Series Officials. The professional manner includes, but is not limited to verbal representation, social media, text messages, written representation, any representation that may represent the sport of racing and/or motorsports in general and/or any affiliates.
11.1 Penalties and Fine Schedules
J. Any member involved in an altercation that results in physical contact will be subject to disqualification and/or fine and/or suspension and/or loss of points and/or any other action deemed appropriate by World of Outlaws Late Model Series Officials.
Erb has been suspended from World of Outlaws Late Model Series competition for two Series events and assessed a $500 fine. Erb will also be placed on probation through Dec. 31, 2018.
