Repeat Performance: Bobby Pierce wins yet again with Flo at Tyler County

Bobby Pierce

Bobby Pierce won the last Castrol FloRacing Night in America event at Fairbury Speedway then he made it consecutive triumphs with that tour on Wednesday night at Tyler County Speedway by leading every lap. It was the 31st overall feature win of the season  ‘Smooth Operator’, who had to hold back a late charge from Hudson O’Neal.

The Longhorn Chassis driver from Oakwood, Illinois earned $23,023 from the track located in Middlebourne, WV in a race aired live by FloRacing.com.

Feature Re-cap: The 50-lap feature got underway with Pierce bolting out to the early lead ahead of Alberson, O’Neal, McCreadie and Hornsby. Just as Pierce appeared to be driving away from the pack, a caution came out on lap 5 for debris on the speedway.

On the restart the race was stopped when Hitt rolled over multiple times on the back stretch. The driver walked away under his own power.

After the lap 5 restart, Pierce again jumped out to the lead by more than 1.5 seconds over Alberson, O’Neal and McCreadie by lap 15. At that point, the front runner found himself among slower traffic but was still able to maintain his advantage.

O’Neal took second away from Alberson on lap 21. Further back, Thornton jumped into the top-5 by passing Hornsby.

Just passed halfway, O’Neal closed in on Pierce to challenge for the lead as they negotiated slower traffic. However, Pierce once more extended his lead by the lap 35 mark with traffic remaining a factor.

Pierce bobbled in turn four coming to the line to complete lap 40 allowing O’Neal to cut into the lead. Thornton, who had suffered damage during his heat race, moved to fourth passing Alberson.

O’Neal closed right to the rear spoiler of Pierce but a lap 45 caution for Burdette slowed the action.

Over the closing laps, O’Neal and McCreadie kept it close but in the end as it has 30 other times in 2023, Pierce would take the checkered flag as the winner.
