McCreadie encouraged after Tyler County; Roberson and Wilson not so much

Tim McCreadie finished 3rd at Tyler County

The Castrol FloRacing Night in America event held on Wednesday at the Tyler County Speedway made for an emotional night for several of those involved. Some left feeling good about themselves and their programs while others departed the Middlebourne, WV facility with not such a positive outlook on the current state of their racing lives.

Two-time and defending Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series champion Tim McCreadie and his Paylor Motorsports crew have not had the type of season they have grown used to. But a new Longhorn Chassis has seemed to lift his performance over the most recent races the No. 39 machine has entered.

Finishes of 7th and 4th in the LOLMDS-sanctioned C.J. Rayburn Memorial and the Jackson 100 at Brownstown(IN) Speedway and Wednesday night’s 3rd place result at Tyler County appear to indicate that McCreadie’s program is heading in the right direction.

McCreadie described his night and his recent efforts in a post-race interview with FloRacing.com following the Tyler County feature which was won by Bobby Pierce. He pointed out that his team has had to fight through a season that saw their last win come in a preliminary race at Muskingum County Speedway on June 30th.

The Watertown, New York driver has not won a full field feature with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series all season. He praised team owners Donald and Gena Bradsher for staying the course.

“It was touch and go, the restart definitely helped to cool the tires down a little bit,” McCreadie explained. “We were softer(tires), obviously, than Bobby. For us, this Paylor Motorsports team, it’s a pleasure to drive this thing. It’s like the third night out on it and I’ve got to thank Donald and Gena and everybody in that entire family, they work so hard to do this. They don’t have to do this, they want to do it so it’s a pleasure to work with them. All my guys, these guys have gutted it out. It’s not been what any of us wanted but we’ve gutted it out and gutted it out and they’re still here. It was a good run tonight and we’ll just keep building on the momentum.”

Among those not in the best of moods leaving Tyler County were Daulton Wilson and Logan Roberson. Both had solid qualifying runs of third and sixth respectively placing each in the third and final heat race of the night.

The start of the third heat race saw a fierce first lap battle between Roberson and Wilson along with Hudson O’Neal. After going three-wide down the front straightaway contact brought the No. 18D of Wilson and the No. 89 of Roberson in contact which continued onto the backstretch. Both cars suffered damage but Wilson’s crew would repair their ride in time to transfer to the feature by finishing sixth in the heat.

Wilson ultimately placed 13th in the main event while Roberson did not make the feature.

Afterwards, Roberson took to X(Twitter) to express his view of the incident then Wilson responded.

Wilson’s account took a more general view of the mishap.
