Live Updates: WoO Late Models at Smoky Mountain(3-7-20)

InsideDirtRacing.com will be providing live updates from the Tennessee Tip-Off World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series event at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN on Saturday evening, March 7, 2020. The updates will be provided by Richard Allen(@RichardAllenIDR on Twitter and @RichardAllenIDR on Instagram).

These updates are brought to you by Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tenn. The next event there will be the “Rockin’ With the Stars” Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series race on April 24, 2020.

Classes in action: WoO Late Models for $12,000-to-win as well as Limited Late Models and Sportsman Late Models. 

*Please Note: These updates will focus solely on the Super Late Model race.

General Information:

Weather is expected to be cool with no chance for rain.

The drivers meeting is slated for 4:45pm with hot laps to follow soon afterward.

The WoO Late Models have already contested eight features so far in 2020 at Vado(NM) Speedway Park, Volusia Speedway Park and Duck River Raceway Park.

Josh Richards won the WoO feature on Friday night at Duck River.

Brandon Sheppard was the 2019 WoO Late Models champion.

Brandon Sheppard leads the current WoO Late Models standings ahead of Ricky Weiss, Darrell Lanigan, Chris Madden and Scott Bloomquist.

Jimmy Owens won this race last year.

Lap 25 caution. Lead car Madden slows suddenly with engine trouble. Weiss now leads Marlar, Richards, Sheppard, McIntosh

Lap 27- Marlar puts slide job on Weiss for the lead.

Lap 40- Marlar leads Weiss, Richards, Sheppard, McIntosh.

Lap 50- Weiss passes Marlar for the lead.

Lap 54 caution for Winger. Weiss leads Marlar, Richards, Sheppard, McIntosh, McDowell, Owens, Junghans, Hedgecock, Ferguson.

Lap 55 caution for Larson. Marlar was making a run on Weiss on the outside but Weiss holds the lead.

Marlar threw a huge slider on lap 57 then held off a challenge from Weiss to hod the lead.
