Josh Richards will drive a No. 14 Rocket Chassis for Clint Bowyer

CLEMMONS, N.C. – Clint Bowyer Racing has hired Josh Richards to drive the No. 14 dirt late model next year in pursuit of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series championship.

Richards, who on Monday announced his departure from Best Performance Motorsports, replaces three-time World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series champion Darrell Lanigan.

“I’m excited to get Josh (Richards) in the No. 14 car, he will be a great addition to our team,” said team owner Clint Bowyer. “Josh will bring tremendous talent and knowledge to our team. He’s a proven champion and winner in dirt late model racing. With the support of our great partners, and the backing of Rocket Chassis, I’m looking forward to the 2019 season.

“As we prepare for 2019, I want to thank Darrell Lanigan for the countless hours he’s put in for us being a great driver and great chassis provider. He was a great asset to CBR, and helped us advance our program. We wish him the best of luck in the future.”

Richards won the 2017 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series championship in his first season with Best Performance Motorsports and previously won four World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series championships while driving for his father and owner of Rock Chassis Mark Richards.

Richards will pilot a Rocket Chassis entry next year as he chases his second Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series title.

“I’m really looking forward to driving for CBR and competing for another Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series championship in 2019,” said Richards. “I’ve been blessed to race for some of the best teams in the industry and CBR is no exception. Clint (Bowyer) has proven his passion for racing and fielded championship-caliber teams for over a decade. I’m excited for us to join forces and start our partnership together.”
