Jesse Lowe holds off challengers for Sweetheart win at 411

Jesse Lowe won the Crate Late Model feature at 411

411 Motor Speedway kicked its 2019 racing season on Saturday afternoon with its annual Valentine’s Day themed Sweetheart event. Crate Late Models served as one of the feature attractions and it was Crossville’s Jesse Lowe who came away from that race on the Seymour, TN track with the winner’s trophy.

Lowe proved to be the fastest in qualifying among the 24 drivers who signed in for competition when he turned a lap of 14.213 seconds around the 3/8 mile clay oval to beat out Clay Coghlan, Greg Huskey, Ruben Mayfield, Mack McCarter, Rusty Ballenger, Ross White, Cory Hedgecock, Trevor Sise and Cody Overton.

Lowe took the lead at the drop of the green with Coglan, Huskey, Mayfield and White trailing. However, it was Hedgecock who would be the early mover as he swept by White for fifth on the second circuit and then by Mayfield for fourth on lap 4.

Lowe was pulling away from his pursuers by lap 5 while Hedgecock gained another position as he took third away from Huskey.

After a lap 6 caution, Hedgecock moved around Coglan to grab the runner-up spot. And soon thereafter, White wrested third away from Coglan. McCarter continued the freight train as he also passed by Coglan to seize fourth.

A four car tangle on lap 8 began what would prove to be a rash of yellow fever with Lowe fighting back the advances of Hedgecock on each successive restart. Meanwhile, White, Coglan and McCarter battled furiously behind the lead duo for the remaining spots in the top-5.

Over the final five laps Lowe had to hold Hedgecock at bey during multiple restarts before finally sailing under the checkered flag for the win.

Feature Finish: 1. Jesse Lowe, 2. Cory Hedgecock, 3. Mack McCarter, 4. Ross White, 5. Clay Coglan, 6. Cody Overton, 7. Chase Walls, 8. Greg Huskey, 9. Tylar Bare, 10. Tyler Arrington, 11.
