Hoffman scores Modified win at 411; Brown takes Iron-Man championship

Nick Hoffman led flag-to-flag for the win

The Modified division raced for the second time this weekend at 411 Motor Speedway as part of the Leftover event. This time, however, it was under the sanction of the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Series. In the end, Nick Hoffman drove to a flag-to-flag win while Blake Brown secured the season-long championship from the series.

NASCAR Xfinity Series regular Justin Allgaier proved to be the fastest in qualifying when he turned a lap in 16.088 seconds around the 3/8 mile clay oval to top Nick Hoffman, Tyler Nicely, Brandon Kinzer, K.C. Burdette, Brian Nantz, Blake Brown and Peyton Harlow.

The top-8 from time-trials were locked into the feature.

Michael Asbury won the first B-main of the day by beating out Austin Holcombe and Jimmy Lennex then Wayne James topped Ricky Arms and Jacob Hall in the second preliminary.

Clayton Miller was the victor in the third heat over Brian Sammons and Austin Francis while Lucas Lee won the fourth and final B-main over Brandon Hutchinson and Jamie Mosley.

At the start of the 25-lap feature it was Hoffman who took the lead over Allgaier, Kinzer, Nicely and Nantz. Nicely passed by Kinzer to take third on the third lap.

From that point, the top-3 of Hoffman, Allgaier and Nicely distanced themselves from the rest of the field. On lap 15, Nicely began to challenge Allgaier for second just before a caution flag waved for a spin at the tail of the pack.

When the action resumed, the top-3 again drove away from the rest of the field. On lap 19, Nicely got around Allgaier for the runner-up position. Nicely slightly closed the gap on Hoffman, but eventually, the No. 2 machine would sail under the checkered flag to earn the win.
