Chris Madden to wheel second Millwood car in Southern Nationals

One week after parting ways with Scott Bloomquist Racing the news came out on Monday morning that Chris Madden would join forces with Tyler Millwood as the two drivers prepare to make an assault on the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals mid-summer mini-series. The announcement was made on TylerMillwood.com with the start of the Southern Nationals now less than one week away.

Georgia native Millwood will be seeking his first Southern Nationals crown while South Carolina’s Madden will enter the fray as the winningest driver in the tour’s history with 24 victories as well as being a five-time tour champion.

During the second half of 2019, Madden went on a tear with SBR winning multiple features including the crown jewel USA Nationals, the North-South 100, and the Topless 100.

While both drivers will compete in Rocket XR1 Chassis machines, Millwood will employ Durham Racing Engines power while Madden will utilize Clements Racing Engines. Both cars will be sponsored by Millwood Plumbing with Madden’s ride receiving additional support from Drydene Engine Oils and Greases.

The 45-year-old Madden has had a longstanding relationship with the Millwoods.

“The Millwood family have gone above and beyond to support me in my racing endeavors over the past several years, and I’m excited to have the opportunity to go and race for them,” Madden pointed out in the release. “It also means a lot to me to be able to go out there for the next two weeks and assist Tyler as he looks to better his racing career.”

The release does not specify any other races beyond he Southern Nationals in which Madden will drive for the team. The series kicks off on July 10th at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN.
