InsideDirtRacing.com will be providing live updates from the Topless Outlaws Dirt Late Model Series and the American Crate All-Star Series event at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, TN on Friday evening, May 22, 2020. The updates will be provided by Richard Allen(@RichardAllenIDR on Twitter and @RichardAllenIDR on Instagram).
These updates are brought to you by Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tenn. The next event there will be the “Memorial Day Mayhem in the Mountains” American Crate All-Stars Series and the Topless Outlaws Late Model Series on May 23, 2020.
Classes in action: Topless Outlaws Late Model Series for $2,500-to-win and the American Crate All-Star Series for $2,000-to-win. Some of the other classes that regularly compete at the track will be in action.
*These updates will focus solely on the Topless Late Models and the Crate Late Models.
General Information:
Weather is expected to be warm with little to no chance for rain.
Hot laps are scheduled to begin at 7:00pm.
This will be the first race of the 2020 season for the Topless Outlaws Late Model Series.
This will also be the first race of the 2020 season for the American Crate All-Star Series.
This is night 1 of a double-header weekend. Both series will be in action on Saturday night at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN.
6:35- Drivers meeting will be delayed as there are still several teams making their way to the track. Traffic was backed way up when I came in over an hour ago and I’m sure it’s worse now. Also, a brief shower just passed over the track.
7:10- Drivers meeting should be getting underway shortly.
7:50- Drivers meetings underway.
8:10- Hot laps for all classes about to begin.
10:30- It began raining which lasted for a few minutes.
11:30- Officials trying to get the track rolled in.
11:50- After running the track in with four-wheelers, officials are now calling for race cars to finish the job.
12:00- Some cars starting to come out to run the track. Quite a few of the crowd have stayed.
12:25- The track appears to be almost ready for racing.
12:30- Group B Qualifying for the Topless Outlaws about to commence.
2:20-; Left track.
