One of the biggest Limited Late Model shows in the east Tennessee region is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 5th at Wartburg Speedway when the 7th annual Dylan Kennedy Memorial rolls off on the high banked quarter-mile track located in Wartburg, Tennessee. The feature winner will be awarded a generous payout of $12,037 with each driver starting the 37-lap race guaranteed no less than $370.

The event honors Dylan Kennedy who passed away in 2016 at the age of 22. His brother, Drew Kennedy, won the 4th annual running of the Memorial honoring his younger brother in 2020.

The first Dylan Kennedy Memorial was won by Anthony White in 2017. Jed Emert received $11,137 for his victory in the feature race held last year.

After last year’s win, Emert called the triumph a dream come true.

“Years ago, when I was a kid I prayed and I dreamed that I would get to race something one day,” he said. “When I got to race a go-kart I wished I would get to race a Late Model just one time. Then I thought I just wanted to win a race. After we won a race, I thought I would love to have the opportunity to drive a steelhead. I have to remind myself that the things I’m getting to do today are things I dreamed about ten years ago. Hopefully we’ll keep digging and keep getting better. I never imagined I would ever win a $10,000 race so I am genuinely thankful to be where I’m at.”

Saturday’s Kennedy Memorial will not only include Limited(Steelhead) Late Models but will also offer up action in the Open Wheel Modified, Mod Mini, Dwarfs, Street and Thunder divisions. The drivers meeting is slated for 7:30.
