As it turns out, both of those historic racing facilities will play host to their most known form of motorsports this coming weekend. The top Dirt Late Model competitors in the sport will descend upon Eldora for a three-day weekend that will culminate with the $129,000-to-win Dirt Late Model Dream on Saturday night. That winner’s name will be forever etched in history for achieving glory on the sacred ground of the Earl Baltes-built track.
The Dream is one of Dirt Late Model racing’s most lucrative crown jewel events with perhaps only the second prized Eldora show, the World 100, surpassing it in prestige.
The most legendary of names appear in the record books as winners of the Dirt Late Model Dream. Brandon Overton has won the last three Dreams(2021 X 2 and 2022) joining him with the likes of Scott Bloomquist, Billy Moyer, Freddy Smith, Donnie Moran and Jimmy Owens as past champions of the event.
Likewise, The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series will be racing at their most sacred venue, the Knoxville(IA) Raceway, on Friday and Saturday nights of this week. While this is not the much coveted Knoxville Nationals, which will be held on the second weekend in August, these are still races being held at the ‘Sprint Car Capital of the World’ and that is not something the competing drivers and teams will take lightly.

Although this weekend won’t produce the same glory as will be the case in the Knoxville Nationals, whoever earns the trophies from the two separate shows to be held on the Iowa clay will get to have their names placed alongside those of Steve Kinser, Donny Schatz, Doug Wolfgang, Danny Lasoski and Kyle Larson as a Knoxville Raceway victor.
Every driver who has ever sat in a Dirt Late Model has dreamed of pulling up onto that elevated victory lane stage adjacent to the Eldora front straightaway. At the same time, every driver who has ever strapped into a Sprint Car has dreamed of someday taking the checkered flag as the winner of a Knoxville feature race.
This weekend, competitors in both disciplines will have the opportunity make those dreams come true.
