There has been an incredible amount of money on the line so far in 2023 for Dirt Late Model racers to compete for. Up to this point in the season as drivers and teams prepare for the Labor Day weekend there have been a total of 15 events to have paid more than $50,000-to-win. Additionally, four of those events have doled out a hefty $100,000 or more to the victor with the top prize being the Dirt Late Model Dream held at the Eldora Speedway back in June which dished out $129,000 to winner Jonathan Davenport.
And those races are apart from the myriad of $20,000 – $30,000 shows that have been held this year.
Of those lucrative races held so far, four have been won by Ricky Thornton Jr., three were taken by Bobby Pierce, two each by Dale McDowell and Hudson O’Neal with Jonathan Davenport, Brandon Overton, Devin Moran and Brandon Sheppard each scoring one big money triumph.
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series has sanctioned eight of those events while the World of Outlaws CASE Construction Late Model Series has held three, the XR Super Series has also had three, and the Dream is officiated by DIRTcar Late Models.
The World 100, which will be contested on September 9th at Eldora, will offer $56,000 to its winner. Although that race is often regarded as the most prestigious of all shows on the Dirt Late Model schedule, it is not the final big money event of the season. Following that feature on the legendary Ohio track, there will be four more $50,000+ events remaining this year.
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned Knoxville Late Model Nationals held at the Knoxville(IA) Raceway on the weekend of September 14-16 will hand the winner a cool $50,000. That national touring series will end its season with their championship-deciding race in the Dirt Track World Championship at Eldora with the race winner earning $100,000 on the weekend of October 20-21.
The XR Super Series will end its 2023 campaign with a $100,000-to-win main event at Florida’s All-Tech raceway as the finale of a three-day weekend in late October. Finally, the Castrol FloRacing Night in America will offer up the $54,054-to-win Peach State Classic at Senoia(GA) Raceway with the big show set for November 11th.
