Officials with the Ultimate Super Late Model Series have announced the addition of another race to be held at Smoky Mountain Speedway on May 31. The race will pay $5,000 to win. Accompanying support classes will be announced soon.
“We initially had two Ultimate events scheduled but ended up dropping one due to the addition of the NDRL sanctioned races,” said Smoky Mountain Speedway general manager Casey Moses. “After working with (Ultimate and NDRL director)Kelley Carlton during our NDRL season opener, and then Kelley reading the news regarding SRRS ceasing their 2014 events, he contacted me about replacing that date with an Ultimate race. We thought this would be a perfect match being that we only had one Ultimate sanctioned event this year.
“It’s still very close to the date of the Ultimate races we’ve had over the last two years, which fell on Memorial Day weekend.”
SMS will also host the Ultimate Super Late Model Series on July 11 for a $5,000-to-win show.
