Quick Six: Early Summer Thoughts

quick6

The lastest edition of the Quick Six blog looks at some early summer happenings in the sport.

  1. The notion the hot, dry summer can only produce hard, slick racetracks has been proven false by the last two races at Volunteer Speedway.
  2. Don’t look now, but Scott Bloomquist has taken over the points lead over Jonathan Davenport in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
  3. Like him or not, the abscence of Randy Weaver has been a blow to area dirt late model racing.
  4. For the people that have complained about the negativity of message boards over the years, social media is much worse because of no moderation. It’s too bad because it’s a good tool to promote the sport.
  5. For all the talk about low car counts for the limited late models, the mini stock/4 cylinder classes have all but disappeared.
  6. It has been good to see some good open wheel races in this area again. Hopefully, the class will thrive again in east Tennessee.
