Live Updates: Iron-Man Series at Volunteer Speedway(2-24-18)

Classes in action: Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Series Late Models for $3,500-to-win(35 laps), Brucebilt Modifieds for $1,200-to-win(25 laps), Crate Late Models for $1,500-to-win(25 laps) along with Sportsman Late Models, Modified Street and Classics.

*These updates will focus on the Iron-Man Late Models, Modifieds, and Crate Late Models.

General Information: Drivers meeting is scheduled for 12:00 noon with racing action to follow soon afterward.

Drivers meeting pushed back to 12:30 as officials work to prepare the track after overnight rains.

Rain is forecast for Saturday evening but the chances are greatly reduced during the afternoon hours.

Donald McIntosh won the first Iron-Man Late Model Series race of the season in the Hangover event at 411 Motor Speedway.

After one event on the 18-race Iron-Man Late Model Series schedule, McIntosh leads the series standings over Cory Hedgecock, Casey Roberts, Tyler Bare and Will Roland.

The Iron-Man Late Model Series will pay $5,000 to its season-long champion.

12:30- Drivers meeting underway.

2:00- Hot laps for all classes still ongoing.

2:30- Qualifying underway.

Iron-Man Super Late Models

Lap 7 caution as leader Cook slows on track. Barton leads Roberts, King, Hedgecock, B Ogle, Frame, C Ogle, McCarter.

Lap 19 caution for Standridge up in smoke. Barton leads. Very intense racing between King and Roberts for second as well as between Hedgecock, B Ogle and Frame for 4th-6th. Order now is Barton, Roberts, Hedgecock, King, B Ogle, Frame, C Ogle.

Caution on restart for spin by B Ogle.

Caution on the second restart for C Ogle into the turn 2 wall after contact with another car. Single-file restarts now.

Lap 22 caution for spin by Roberts as he raced with Hedgecock for second. Looks like Roberts is done. King pulled off track the lap before.

Hedgecock took the lead from Barton on the lap 22 restart.

Lap 26 caution for smoke from Barton. Hedgecock leads Frame, B Ogle, Greer. Those are the only four cars running.

Crate Late Models

Lap 1 caution for flat on Lowe. White leads Sise, Hedgecock, Crittenden, Trammell and Ballenger.

Lap 12 caution. White had built a good lead in traffic. Sise, Hedgecock, Crittenden, Ballenger, Fields, Trammell, Maupin trail the leader.

Lap 15 caution for Trammell slow on track. White still leads but Hedgecock fell back on the last restart. Now Sise, Ballenger, Hedgecock, Crittenden trailing.

The bottom was the place to be on restarts. Henry drove from the tail to finish fifth.

White has been cleared in post-race tech. His win is official.

Modifieds

After fighting off several challenges on restarts from Flanary, King drove away to a dominating win.
