Jamie Oliver earns Southern All-Stars triumph at Tri-County

Jamie Oliver drove a near flawless race on Monday night to score a Southern All-Stars win in a race named in honor of his grandfather. The Labor Day C.T. Barnett Memorial at Tri-County Race Track proved to be the biggest win in the career of the victor.

The Longhorn Chassis driver from Murphy, NC earned $10,034 from the track located in Brasstown, NC is a race aired live by XRevents.plus.

Chase Oliver, 11. Daniel Wilson, 12. Shawn Chastain, 13. Joe Denby, 14. Seth Wimpey, 15. Glenn Barnett, 16. Floyd Self, 17. Dan Cox, 18. Ronnie Hedden 

Feature Re-cap: At the start of the 50-lap it was Jamie Oliver who went to the early lead with Payne, Freeman, Collins and Devine trailing, Oliver initial built a lead by Payne and Freeman were able to close quickly and appeared poised to challenge in traffic until a lap 7 caution for a spin by Wimpey slowed the pace. 

On the restart, Oliver continued to lead ahead of Payne and Freeman as the cars circulated around the high-banked track at a fast pace. Freeman moved to the low side of the track on lap 9 to challenge Payne for second but the No. 8 car held the position.

Self bounced off the turn two wall then collected top-5 runner Devine to bring out a yellow flag on lap 15. Hiett moved into the top-5 on the restart following Devine’s retirement. Later, English would take fifth away from Hiett just before halfway.

The top-3 of Oliver, Payne and Freeman caught up with slower traffic on lap 24 allowing the second and third runners to close in on the leader. Jamie Oliver made contact with Chase Oliver just before Chase Oliver would slow to bring out a yellow flag on lap 26.

Hiett moved back into the top-5 on the lap 26 restart with Oliver, Payne, Freeman and Collins just ahead. Oliver drove out to a lead of almost two seconds until a lap 35 caution for the slowing car of Robinson bunched the pack.

The racing continued to be fast and furious as the laps clicked away with Payne pressuring the leader with less than 10 to go. But again, Oliver would begin to slip away from his pursuers.

In the end, it would be Oliver who would pick up the dominant win.
