Valvoline Iron-Man Late Models Head to Boyd’s, Mountain View & Tazewell September 3-5

SOMERSET, KENTUCKY (September 1, 2021) – The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series is set for a Labor Day weekend tripleheader of racing action, starting Friday September 3 at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA for $4,000 to win Labor Day Showdown, Saturday September 4 at Mountain View Raceway in Spring City, TN for $4,000 to win, and Sunday September 5 at Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN for the 13th Annual Buddy Rogers Memorial for $10,044 to win.   

The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series will begin the Labor Day weekend at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA on Friday September 3 for the Labor Day Showdown and will feature the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series racers in a full program of Practice, E-Z-GO Time Trials, Sunoco Race Fuels Last Chance Heats, and the 40-lap, $4,000 to win Labor Day Showdown main event. Other divisions in action at Boyd’s Speedway on Friday September 3 will be the track’s 604 Crate Late Model, Sportsman 602, Front Wheel Drive, Pony, and Beginner divisions, while the racing for the evening will conclude with an Enduro, plus there will be a big Fireworks show. Activities at Boyd’s Speedway on Friday September 3 for the Labor Day Showdown will see the pit area open at 3:00 p.m. and the general admission area open at 4:30 p.m. The drivers meeting will be at 6:45 p.m., with practice laps and time trials beginning after the drivers meeting. Ticket prices at Boyd’s Speedway for the Labor Day Showdown on Friday September 3 in the general admission area will be $20, while a pit pass will be $40.

The second stop of the Labor Day weekend will see the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series make its first-ever visit to Mountain View Raceway in Spring City, TN for what will be the track’s first-ever Super Late Model event on Saturday September 4 and will feature the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series racers in a full program of Practice, E-Z-GO Time Trials, Sunoco Race Fuels Last Chance Heats, and the 40-lap, $4,000 to win. Other divisions in action at Mountain View Raceway on Saturday September 4 will be the track’s Open Wheel Modified, Thunder, Front Wheel Drive, B-Hobby, and B-Sportsman divisions. Activities at Mountain View Raceway on Saturday September 4 will see the pit area open at 3:00 p.m. and the general admission area open at 4:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will be at 6:15 p.m., with practice laps and time trials immediately following the drivers meeting. Ticket prices at Mountain View Raceway on Saturday September 4 in the general admission area will be $15, while a pit pass will be $35.

The final stop of the Labor Day weekend for the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series will be at Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN on Sunday September 5 for the 13th Annual Buddy Rogers Memorial and will feature the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series racers in a full program of Practice, E-Z-GO Time Trials, Sunoco Race Fuels Heats, Impact RaceGear B-Mains, and the 44-lap, $10,044 to win 13th Annual Buddy Rogers Memorial. Other divisions in action at Tazewell Speedway on Sunday September 5 for the 13th Annual Buddy Rogers Memorial will be the track’s Sportsman, Classics, Street Stocks, and Four Cylinders. Activities at Tazewell Speedway on Sunday September 5 for the 13th Annual Buddy Rogers Memorial will see the pit area open at 4:00 p.m. and general admission area open at 4:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will be at 7:00 p.m., with practice laps to begin at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices at Tazewell Speedway on Sunday September 5 for the 13th Annual Buddy Rogers Memorial in the general admission area will be $25, while a pit pass will be $40.         

The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series will sanction the Super Late Model portion of all three events and the tire rule for all three events will be as follows: Left Rear/Fronts-Hoosier 1350, American Racer 48; Right Rear-Hoosier 1350, Hoosier 1600, American Racer 48, American Racer 56 (NO 29.0 size tires on the left rear and there is NO droop rule). Teams must use the same set of 4 tires for Qualifying, Heat Races, and B-Mains. For the Feature, teams may use one (1) new rear tire (flat tire must be replaced with a used tire of the same compound and construction). The entry fee will be $100 at each event and transponders for timing/scoring will be available for rent at the track. Any driver not making the 22-car starting field at Boyd’s Speedway and Mountain View Raceway will receive $50 tow money, while any driver not making the 22-car starting field at Tazewell Speedway will receive $75 tow money. 

The Buddy Rogers Memorial event at Tazewell Speedway will be round ten of the eleven race of the Sunoco Race Fuels $10,000 Plus Challenge for the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series competitors. This is a “mini-series” within the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series Northern and Southern Series for certain events that pay at least $10,000 to win. Michael Chilton of Salvisa, KY is the current point leader of the Sunoco Race Fuels $10,000 Plus Challenge coming into the event at Tazewell Speedway on Sunday September 5.  

The Friday September 3 event at Boyd’s Speedway will be the tour’s third visit to the track in 2021, with Randy Weaver of Crossville, TN winning the January 30 Cabin Fever non-points events and the July 2 Stars and Stripes 40 contest. The Saturday September 4 event at Mountain View Raceway will be the tour’s first-ever visit to the track and will also mark the Super Late Model event held at the track since it was remodeled and reconfigured. The Sunday September 5 event at Tazewell Speedway will be the series third visit of the season to “The Taz”, with Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, GA winning the Lil’ Bill Corum Memorial on April 3 and Dakotah Knuckles of Ewing, VA winning the Firecracker 40 on July 3.
