Forrest Trent scored the Crate Late Model win at Volunteer
As part of the Xtreme DIRTcar Winter Series event held on Saturday afternoon the Volunteer Speedway also staged racing in the Crate Late Model division. Forrest Trent outran the field of 21 cars and left the Bulls Gap, TN facility $1,200 richer for his efforts.
Tyler Arrington set the fast time in qualifying when he turned a lap around the 4/10 mile clay oval in 13.489 seconds. That run beat out Forrest Trent, Shannon Emory, Zack Sise, Kyle Courtney, Terry Poore, Jason Cardwell, Chris Coffey, Tyler Coffman and Tim Maupin.
There were no heat races as the starting lineup for the main event was set entirely by time-trials.
At the start of the 30-lap feature Trent used his outside front row starting position to his advantage as he shot to the lead of the race with Arrington, Sise, Emory and Courtney trailing.

Multiple cautions would slow the pace of the proceedings with the first after the race got started coming out on the second circuit. Following the restart, the top-5 of Trent, Arrington, Sise, Emory and Courtney while Cardwell and Coffey battled just behind them for the sixth spot.
Sise went from fourth to third after a lap 16 restart while Courtney took fourth from Emory following a lap 18 return to green fag racing.
Arrington began harassing Trent for the lead as the race approached the lap 20 mark. However, a crash that damaged top-10 runners Courtney, Emory and Cardwell changed the complexion of the race on lap 19.

Over the final third of the race Arrington continued to look inside of Trent but was never able to complete the pass. Meanwhile, Sise and Coffey swapped the third position several times. And further back, Maupin and Poore were exchanging fifth.
But Trent would not be denied as he cruised under the checkered flag to collect the win.
