Cory Hedgecock defends home turf in notching WoO win at 411

Cory Hedgecock took the lead just after halfway then drove to the win

Anytime any series rolls into 411 Motor Speedway the regulars on that tour know they will have to outrun Cory Hedgecock if they are to earn a victory. On Thursday night, the frequent winner at the track not far from his home defeated all comers in the World of Outlaws CASE Construction Late Model Series-sanctioned Thursday Night Thunder feature event. A restart just after the halfway point would provide the boost needed to put the No. 23 machine out front.

The BMF Chassis driver from Loudon, Tennessee earned $10,000 from the track located in Seymour, Tennessee.

A total of 47 cars were signed in for competition

Feature Re-cap: McDowell took the lead at the start of the 40-lap feature with Marlar, Ford, Madden, and Hedgecock following. Bronson burst into the top-5 on the second lap then to fourth by passing Madden on lap 3. Hedgecock was also able to get around Madden for fifth on the fourth lap.

Bronson continued to rise when he took third away from Ford on lap 8. At the same time, Marlar had closed onto the rear spoiler of McDowell to challenge for the top spot. The leaders then began to work through slower traffic with Marlar continuing to harass McDowell while Bronson closed from third.

On lap 15, Marlar’s efforts paid when he passed McDowell for the race lead. At that point, the top-3 were locked in tight formation as they continued to put others a lap down. Further back, Hedgecock had moved in to challenge Ford for fourth.

What looked to be a winning night for Marlar went astray on lap 29 when the No. 157 slowed to bring out a yellow flag.

It was on the restart that the race-deciding move would be made. Hedgecock roared from third to the lead by passing both Bronson and McDowell. But Bronson did not give up without a fight as he dove to the bottom of the track to fight for the lead on lap 32. But Hedgecock was able to fight off those advances.

Over the closing laps, Thornton closed hard by passing McDowell for third on lap 37 then moving around Bronson for the runner-up position on the final lap. But in the end, it was Hedgecock who would sail under the checkered flag to claim the win.
