Bobby Pierce tightens grip on WoO standings with Brownstown victory

Bobby Pierce

Bobby Pierce has been winning races all season and that continued on Friday night in the Hoosier Dirt Classic at Brownstown Speedway. The World of Outlaws Case Construction Late Model Series and Valvoline Iron-Man North Late Model Series co-sanctioned event helped the ‘Smooth Operator’ extend his lead in the WoO standings as the season winds down.

It was the first time for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series at Brownstown since 2007.

The Longhorn Chassis driver from Oakwood, Illinois earned $10,000 from the track located in Brownstown, Indiana in a race shown live by DirtVision.com.

Feature Re-cap: At the start of the 40-lap feature it was Stricker who took the early lead over Pierce, Madden, Gustin and Gundaker. The action was slowed almost immediately as the first of what ultimately be several cautions occurred on lap 2 when Gustin slowed.

Pierce drove by Stricker for the race lead on lap 7 while Bronson and Sheppard engaged in a fight for fifth further back.

Pierce briefly pulled away but Stricker would reel him back in by lap 16 as the front runners worked through slower traffic. A lap 18 caution for the slowing car of Gilpin set in a motion a rash of yellow fever. Shirley and Sheppard would be among those involved in incidents between laps 20 and 27.

Madden went by Stricker and into second on a lap 20 restart while Tyler Erb was able to move around Stricker for third on a lap 21 restart.

When the race finally settled back into a rhythm, Madden offered a brief challenge to Pierce on lap 29 but the No. 32 ultimately began to pull away. In the end, Pierce would sail under the checkered flag to score his 13 series win of the 2023 campaign.
