604 Crate Late Models

A total of 41 604 Crate Late Models were signed in for competition.

Booger Brooks was the fastest CLM in qualifying with a lap of 14.771 seconds around the 3/8 mile clay oval besting Jason Cardwell, Josh Henry, Mack McCarter, Jesse Lowe, Ronnie Johnson, Zach Sise, Brodie Sharp, Tim Clark, Greg Martin, A.J. Hicks and Bryson Dennis.

The top-12 from qualifying transferred directly to the feature.

Justin Williams was flagged as the winner of the first B-main besting Josh Collins and Jacob Owens while Logan Roberson outperformed Joey Kramer and Shannon Thornsberry in the second B-main.

Trey Bayne took the third B-main ahead of Kevin Copher and Daniel Dial just before Jim Couch won the fourth and final B-main defeating Kenny Kizzar and Logan Walls.

At the start of the 25-lap feature it was Brooks who bolted the lead of the race with Henry, Lowe, Cardwell and McCarter trailing. Henry stepped up to challenge Brooks on the second lap but the No. 85 car was up to the challenge and maintained the top spot on the leaderboard. Further back, Johnson and McCarter engaged in a position swapping fight for the final spot in the top-5 with McCarter managing to hold the position.

On lap 9, the lead duo of Brooks and Henry found themselves fighting for the lead while working among slower traffic at the same time. Just after the halfway point, Henry moved to the inside in an attempt to grab the lead, but again, Brooks held on.

The race’s key moment occurred on lap 15 when Brooks tangled with a slower machine sending both cars for a spin. The former leader left the track under the caution with Henry then inheriting the lead.

On the lap 15 restart, McCarter used the high line around the track to jump from fifth to third trailing Henry and Lowe. The No. 51 continued to run higher on the track than his rivals which would eventually allow him to get by Lowe for the runner-up spot on lap 23.

McCarter used momentum from that top groove to close quickly on Henry and as the cars worked through turns three and four for the final time, he closed right to the rear spoiler of Henry but was unable to find his way by as Henry sailed under the checkered flag to take the win.

Josh Henry of Newport, Tennessee earned $1,000 for the triumph.

Hunter Wilbanks took the third B-main over Reece Ogle and Dustin Linville just before John Mills was victorious in the fourth and final B-main topping Robert Poole and David Smith.

When the 20-lap feature took the green flag it was Brown who grabbed the early lead followed by Hutchinson, Kinzer, Vance and Asberry in his tire tracks. Kinzer moved around Hutchinson on the second circuit to claim second just before a yellow flag waved for an incident near the back of the pack.

Lee began to rise through the field on lap 3 when he wrested the fourth positions away from Asberry. At the same time, Kinzer closed onto the rear bumper of Brown as he made a bid for the lead on lap 5.

Lee again moved up a spot when he took third away from Hutchinson on lap 6. A caution for the slowing car of Dustin Linville bunched the pack for a lap 8 restart.

Following the lap 8 restart, the top-3 of Brown, Kinzer and Lee broke away as they looked to settle the issue among themselves. Meanwhile, Hutchinson, Asberry and Nantz were busy with their own battle for positions 4-6.

Over the closing laps, Brown would slip away from his pursuers and eventually claim the win.
