Fans, drivers, employees, and others will gather on Tuesday, December 9 for an Atomic Speedway reunion. The event will take place at the Bearden Banquet Hall in Knoxville from 7-9 p.m. The public is invited.
Original Atomic owner Bob Martin came up with the idea to reunite anyone associated with Atomic Speedway, which was closed following the 2006 season. Martin enlisted the help of Chris Corum to put on the event.
For a ticket price of $19.70, attendees will be treated to a meal, memorabilia displays, photo slideshow, and sharing stories.
“This is an opportunity for folks that had anything to do with Atomic to get together, remember the good old days, and tell some stories,” Corum said. “The ticket price is the year the racetrack opened, 1970.”
Corum said a number of drivers spanning the years Atomic Speedway was open will be in attendance.
“We have some legendary Atomic drivers that will be at the reunion,” Corum added. “We may even have a surprise or two.”
Tickets for the reunion can be purchased at Competition Speed Equipment, Goddard’s Performance Parts, or West Haven Speed Equipment or contact Chris Corum at 865-604-4062 or Leslie Corum at 865-548-9248.
