Donald McIntosh had two top-10’s at Golden Isles.

MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 9) Donald McIntosh and the BMS team continued to build on their early season momentum with two strong performances in the three race Lucas Oil Super Bowl of Racing at Golden Isles Speedway.
With Wednesday’s practice rained out they went into Thursday night race cold. They made the event through the first consi, started 23rd in the 24-car field and finished 15th. On Friday they made a number of changes to the car and it showed. They were second in the second heat, started seventh and finished fourth. Starting with another good qualifying effort on Saturday night they finished second in the first heat, started fifth and finished seventh.
“We had a really good race car and it is nice to be able to hold your own when you are racing with the touring guys,” said David Bryant. “We learned a lot, we were able to keep our early season momentum going and we left Golden Isles feeling good about ourselves and the team. This is going to be a fun year.”
On Friday night they were on soft tires and Donald was apprehensive about keeping them warm under caution and that cost him on the restarts.
“I was worried about the soft tires and I didn’t keep them warm enough under caution. On the lap-37 caution they sealed up a little bit and going into three the car didn’t stick. It cost us a couple positions on the track and in the final tally. It is another one of those many lessons I need to learn. ” said McIntosh.
On Saturday night watching McIntosh on the track Bryant was wondering what was going on. McIntosh was not consistently hitting his marks and didn’t look real sharp.
“About four laps into the race I almost pulled in because I couldn’t see. The helmet ventilation system messed up and my face shield fogged up,” continued McIntosh. “In order to see I had to flip up my visor and get a face full of sand. Even when I could see I couldn’t see good enough to get in too close to anyone for fear of wrecking everyone.”
BMS will spend the next few weeks finishing up the other new Rocket, fine-tuning everything and getting ready for the Spring Nationals opener at Smoky Mountain Speedway in March.
