Feature Re-cap: The caution flag was displayed almost immediately after the start when Ford, Cook, Collins, Henderson, Nipper and Carson Ferguson were among those involved in a multi-car incident.
When the 53-lap feature officially got underway, Mitchell took the lead with Chris Ferguson, Overton, Collins and Dixon in his tire tracks. A lap 2 caution flag waved when Henderson spun and collected Timms. Overton moved to second behind Mitchell on the restart while Dixon moved up a spot to fourth.
Nipper drove into the top-5 early on and looked to move further forward. Mitchell slipped away from the pack by lap 10 as he worked through slower traffic. However, Overton began to close on lap 14 pulling to the rear spoiler of the race leader as Chris Ferguson battled traffic further back.
A yellow flag waved on lap 14 when Basey spun. Mitchell continued to lead Overton and Ferguson when the action resumed but another caution flag flew on lap 18 when third-running Chris Ferguson slowed on the track. Nipper moved ahead of Overton to take the runner-up spot on the restart.
As the main event approached the halfway mark, Mitchell had built a lead of more than four seconds over Nipper, Overton, Herrington and Brown. Although Mitchell was well ahead, the fight behind him for the remaining positions inside the top-5 was a furious one,
Mitchell’s advantage was erased on lap 35 when a caution came out for the stalled car of Garver. Overton took advantage of the restart and returned to the second position and worked to keep pace with Mitchell. Herrington also got by Nipper to take third.
Overton closed to the rear spoiler of Mitchell with 15 laps remaining. The leaders rode side-by-side as the laps clicked away with Herrington waiting to pounce. Finally, Overton drove to the front of the field with seven laps to go when Mitchell slipped out of the groove.
Herrington took second from Mitchell two laps from the finish but it would be Overton who would sail under the checkered flag for the win.
