These updates are brought to you by Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tenn. The 2021 season has concluded at SMS. Check in for the full 2022 schedule at a later date but make plans now to attend the $50,000-to-win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event on the weekend of June 17-18, 2022.
Weather Forecast: Daytime highs in the 60s with nighttime lows dropping into the 50s with a slight chance for rain.
Drivers Meeting: 12:30pm
Feature Payout: $5,000-to-win. 40 laps
Track Description: 3/8 mile clay oval with banked turns.
Other Classes: 604 Crate Late Models, Modifieds and others
Pre-race Notes: This event was originally meant to be a two-day affair but Saturday’s weather forecast forced track officials to change plans.
Pierce McCarter won this race in January of 2021.
There was a brief rain shower at 11:00 that could cause a bit more track prep and a slight delay.
12:40- Drivers meeting underway.
1:00- Hot laps about to begin.
2:10- Just as the Super Late Models were about to qualify another rain shower passed by the track.
2:30- It has started to rain again.
2:42- Rain has picked up in intensity.
3:10- Not raining now. Waiting it out for now.
3:27- Announcement just made that officials are still hopeful of getting this race in.
3:38- It just won’t stop drizzling. Officials have decided to postpone until Saturday at noon.

11:30(1-1-22)- A quick drivers meeting underway. Super Late Model qualifying results will be posted soon.
11:55- Cars out helping to roll in the track.
12:08- SLM hot laps underway. That will be followed by the Sportsman feature(20 laps) then SLM qualifying.
12:48- Sportsman feature just concluded. SLM qualifying up next.
