The Limited Late Model class joined the Schaeffer’s Oil Fall Nationals on Saturday night at Smoky Mountain Speedway. Chase King proved to be the top runner as he cruised to victory after leading all the way. The Seymour, TN driver picked up $1,200 for his efforts.
Kyle Courtney was fastest in qualifying by turning a lap in 16.886 seconds around the 4/10 mile clay oval to beat out Chase King, Skip Arp, Bobby Giffin, Ross white, Austin Neely, Aaron Guinn, Ellery Leake, John Llewellyn and Mike Price.
At the start of the 20-lap it was King who used his front row starting spot to bolt to the lead with Courtney, Arp, Guinn and Neely following. As King began to slip away the trio of Courtney, Arp and Guinn engaged in a tight battle for the runner-up position.
Neely jumped to fourth on a lap 6 restart but the move was short-lived as Guinn swept by two laps later. At the same time, King began to get away from the pack.
As the laps clicked away, Courtney closed on King and appeared to be in position to challenge for the lead. But the No. 171 car jumped the cushion in turn one with just under two laps remaining which allowed King and his Stinger Race Car to extend his lead and ultimately cruise under the checkered flag.
