Eddie Carrier, Jr. has long been a fixture on dirt tracks near his Salt Rock, West Virginia home and all across the nation for years. But the 2014 winner of the North-South 100 has decided to scale back his racing endeavors in favor of a new job with the Rocket Chassis company.
The announcement came via a press release on his eddiecarrierjr.com website.
The 48-year-old driver believes now is the time to make a move in a new direction as he considers his long-term goals.
“I’m not getting any younger, and I know that realistically, I only have another five or so more years to competitively race. I want to make sure that I start planning for the future now,” Carrier declared in the press release. “As a result, I’ve decided to step away from the Keaton Racing ride to take on a full-time job at Rocket Chassis.”
While Carrier hopes to continue racing on a limited basis, his primary focus will be on his new position with the Shinnston, WV based chassis builder.
“I’m extremely thankful of the opportunity that Mark Richards and Steve Baker have presented me at Rocket Chassis,” Carrier said. “From 1999 to 2017, all that I drove were Rockets, and those guys have always been like family to me. With my new role, I’ll be doing a little bit of everything from consulting to sales to all points in between. I’m very excited to embark on this next chapter of my life.”
