The lastest edition of the Quick Six blog looks at some early summer happenings in the sport.
- The notion the hot, dry summer can only produce hard, slick racetracks has been proven false by the last two races at Volunteer Speedway.
- Don’t look now, but Scott Bloomquist has taken over the points lead over Jonathan Davenport in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
- Like him or not, the abscence of Randy Weaver has been a blow to area dirt late model racing.
- For the people that have complained about the negativity of message boards over the years, social media is much worse because of no moderation. It’s too bad because it’s a good tool to promote the sport.
- For all the talk about low car counts for the limited late models, the mini stock/4 cylinder classes have all but disappeared.
- It has been good to see some good open wheel races in this area again. Hopefully, the class will thrive again in east Tennessee.
