Volunteer Speedway has opted off of the schedule for the upcoming Southern Nationals mini-series. Instead of racing at the Bulls Gap facility, the Ray Cook promoted summer series will compete in a $3,500-to-win race at the 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN.
“We’re real excited about going to 411,” Cook commented. “We’re looking forward to having our first Southern Nationals race there and we hope the fans will pack the place to watch.”
The series will open on Monday, July 21 at the Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, VA. The race at 411 will follow that event on Tuesday, July 22.
Cook also announced that the race originally slated for the East Alabama Motor Speedway on Thursday, July 24 will be replaced by a visit to the Modoc Speedway in South Carolina. That race will take place on the same date and will also be a $3,500-to-win affair.
“It’s like returning home,” Cook said of the Modoc race. “That track was on our first Southern Nationals schedule ten years ago.”
