We will be providing live updates from the World of Outlaws Late Models race as well as support classes from the Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN for Saturday night, April 12, 2014. Tonight’s updates are being provided by Richard Allen( @RichardAllenIDR on Twitter ).

Weather is expected to be great with clear skies and a daytime high around 80 degrees.

General Information:

The World of Outlaws Late Models event at the Duck River Raceway Park in Wheel, TN was rained out on Friday night. That race has been rescheduled for May 18 as the final part of a triple header weekend with the 201 Speedway in Sitka, KY and the Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville.

Darrell Lanigan currently leads the WoO point standings after six series races ahead of Brandon Sheppard, Rick Eckert, Shane Clanton and Tim McCreadie.

Probably 20 Super Late Models here already. I’ll post a full driver lineup after the drivers meeting.

8:10- Qualifying on track.

Top-5 qualifiers were 1. Eckert(11.390), 2. Marlar, 3. Clanton, 4. McCreadie, 5. Wells.

8:45- Heat races about to start.

Heat 1 finish- 1. Eckert, 2. Clanton, 3. J Wolfenbarger, 4. Smith, 5. Sheppard.

Heat 2 finish- 1. Wells, 2. Marlar, 3. Lanigan, 4. Sullivan, 5. Frank.

Heat 3 finish- 1. McCreadie, 2. Ogle, 3. Overton, 4. Junghans, 5. Briggs.

Redraw results- 1. McCreadie, 2. Marlar, 3. Eckert, 4. Ogle, 5. Wells, 6. Clanton.

9:50- Feature rolling out.

One note to keep in mind- there are no double-file restarts. All restarts will be single-file after the initial green flag.

9:53- Four wide!

9:55- Green flag!

Lap 3 caution- Ogle damaged and has to pit. He’ll restart from rear. McCreadie leads Marlar, Eckert, Clanton, Lanigan.

Lap 9 caution for Heckenast spin. McCreadie slows with a flat. Marlar to the lead.

Lap 17 caution for spin by Hendrix – close call for the leaders. Marlar was cutting through heavy traffic to hold lead prior to caution. He leads Clanton, Eckert, Lanigan, Wells, Overton.

Lap 26 caution. Leaders earning their money in traffic. Marlar able to maintain 5 car length lead over Clanton, Eckert, Lanigan.

Lap 29 caution. The nose of Marlar’s car is buckled up from contact with slower car but he still leads.

Lap 31 caution for Sullivan. Still Marlar, Clanton, Eckert, Lanigan, Wells, Overton, Junghans, Frank, Bagley, J Wolfenbarger.

Lap 39 caution for Frank. Top-5 the same. Frequent cautions are giving leaders a break from traffic, but with single-file restarts they catch the tail quickly.

Lap 48 caution for J Wolfenbarger. Marlar still leads. Oddly enough, flagman couldn’t wave the flag because it blew off the stand a few laps earlier.

Mike Marlar collects $10,000 for the win over Clanton, Eckert, Lanigan, Wells, Overton, Junghans, Bagley, Smith, Briggs.

Marlar said the incident with the slower car that dented his hood was result of the slower changing lanes unexpectedly.

Clint Smith drove a backup car in the feature. A crew member reported that the primary suffered a blown engine.

Sportsman-

Car count- 15 cars

8:05- Hot laps concluded.

Top-4 qualifiers were Jordan Horton(12.519), 2. Clyde Overholt, 3. Rex Coffey, 4. Anthony Burchett.

10:50- Feature about to begin

Feature finish- Clyde Overholt holds off a fierce challenge from Jordan Horton to win. Rick Welch was 3rd and Justin Beeler was 4th.

Horton protests Overholt’s victory according to track announcer Brady Cupp.

Modified Street

Car count- 5 cars

9:10- Feature rolling out.

Top-4 starters are Robbie, Buchanan, Dakota Knuckles, Tony Horton, Justin James.

Feature finish- Tony Horton passed Knuckles with 6 laps remaining and went on to win. Knuckles was 2nd and James was 3rd.

Classis

Car count- 10 cars

7:55- Hot laps concluded.

10:35- Feature starting.

Top-4 qualifiers were Joe Keck, Matthew Tharpe, Bart Baxter and Philip Thompson.

Feature finish- Matt Tharpe wins over Thompson, Baxter and Wolfenbarger.

Four Cylinder

Car count- 7 cars

9:30- Feature rolling out.

Top-4 starters are 111- Dyke, 22- Reichert, 99- McMahan, 2a- Fancher

Finish- Kurt Owens wins over McMahan, Collins and Reichert.
