Zach Sise and Amos Bunch earn Hangover feature victories at 411

Zach Sise began his 2022 season with a win at 411

As part of the 12th annual Hangover event, 411 Motor Speedway hosted an unsanctioned $5,000-to-win feature for Super Late Model machines. Among the divisions on the undercard at the Seymour, Tennessee track were the 604 Crate Late Models and the Open Wheel Modified cars. Zach Sise and Amos Bunch were ultimately flagged as the winners of those races.

Jason Cardwell proved to be fastest in 604 Late Model qualifying by touring the 3/8 mile clay oval in 14.062 seconds topping Booger Brooks, Rusty Ballenger, Zach Sise, Josh Henry, Bradley Lewelling, Mack McCarter and Logan Roberson.

On the initial attempt to start the 30-lap feature there was contact between front row starters Cardwell and Brooks as the two cars slid into turn 2. That contact sent Brooks into the outside wall causing significant damage to the right rear of his car.

The the retirement of the Brooks machine, Sise was moved up to the outside of the front row. When the green flag waved, Sise jumped to the lead with Cardwell, Lewelling, Ballenger and Henry following. However, a yellow flag waved just after the completion of the first lap the car of Cardwell slowed to a stop to bring out another yellow flag.

On the lap 1 restart, Sise maintained the lead while Ballenger took the runner-up spot away from Lewelling. Further back, Henry, Roberson and Lowe battled in positions 4 through 6.

Lewelling moved in to challenge Ballenger for second on lap 5 as Sise began to slip away from the competition. Lewelling finally was able to grab second on lap 7. At the one-third mark of the feature, Sise held a lead of about five car lengths as Lewelling, Ballenger, Roberson, Henry and Lowe ran in tight formation for second through sixth.

The leaders found themselves among slower traffic at the halfway mark which allowed Ballenger to offer a challenge to Lewelling for second. Misfortune struck for Lowe on lap 20 when he pulled off the track and out of the race as Lewelling and Ballenger continued to fight over second while Roberson and Henry contest fourth.

As the laps clicked away, Roberson was able to move forward as he passed Ballenger for third. But further ahead, Sise was cruising toward the checkered flag to score the win.

Feature Finish: 1. Zach Sise, 2. Bradley Lewelling, 3. Logan Roberson, 4. Rusty Ballenger, 5. Josh Henry, 6. Tim Clark, 7. Jim Couch, 8. Mike Bargo, 9. Wendell Pinckney, 10. Dwight Smith, 11. Jason Cardwell, 12. Jesse Lowe, 13. Briggs Kyker, 14. Booger Brooks

Amos Buch was the Modified winner at 411

David Clark led Modified time-trials with a lap of 14.788 seconds to better the efforts of Amos Bunch, Colton Perrine, Jeff Hamby, Dusty Branscum, Josh Hampton, Skylar Douglas and Reece Ogle.

At the start of what was intended to be a 25-lap feature, it was Bunch who sailed into the early lead with Clark, Hamby and Perrine in his tire tracks. Hamby took second away from Clark on the second lap as Bunch began to pull away from the competition.

Clark wrested second away from Hamby after a lap 4 restart just two laps before Tyler Strickland suffered mechanical issues that dumped fluid on the track requiring an extensive cleanup. As the cars waited under red flag conditions, Bunch was scored as the leader with Clark, Hamby, Perrine, Douglas and Adam Ogle trailing.

On the ensuing restart, Hamby spun as he attempted a move on Clark. The No. 15 machine was sent to the tail for the next restart.

Hamby quickly came up to fourth in green flag action resume but the racing was again slowed on lap 9 when the third-running Perrine found the outside wall in turn 2. With weather approaching and there having been two incidents that required extensive cleanup the time limit was reached.

The final restart was a green/white/checkered which was dominated by Bunch who drove on to the checkered flag and the win.
