Weekly Racing Heroes will be a regular feature on InsideDirtRacing.com throughout the 2019 racing season. These pieces will focus on drivers in east Tennessee who race on a weekly basis at the tracks of this region. Here, drivers will answer three questions that will provide fans with a look into the lives of their favorite weekly competitors.
Driver: Josh Driskill
Hometown: Newport, TN
Class: Street Stock
Having a good work ethic and being a loyal friend are two qualities that are admirable in any man and those two qualities accurately describe Josh Driskill. Always at the side of his friend Josh Henry, this 29-year-old racer is just as eager to help others as he is to work on his own car when at the race track.
What got you started in racing?
“It all started back when I was 15 and my buddy, Josh Henry, got his first Front Wheel Drive car. My dad and his dad got to talking and we bought me one. Ever since then, we’ve just been racing together and having fun.”
What is the goal you want to achieve in racing?
“I want to win a Late Model race. That’s definitely one of my goals. I’ve won in everything but that. I’ve won in a Front Wheel Drive, I’ve won a race in the Four Cylinder division, I’ve won in Open Wheel Modifieds, and I’ve won in Street Stocks so Late Models are all that’s left.”
What keeps you coming back week after week?
“Addiction. It’s something I’ve done my whole life. It’s just something I can’t get out of me.
