Tazewell Speedway set to host World of Outlaws Late Models

Tazewell Speedway Hosts World of Outlaws for Ray Varner Ford 50 on April 11th

TAZEWELL, TN (April 6, 2015)—Tazewell Speedway located in Tazewell, Tenn. will resume action with the second event of the 50th Anniversary season this Saturday Night April 11th featuring the World of Outlaws Late Model Series for the Ray Varner Ford 50.

 

The $10,000-to-win Super Late Model event will mark the fifth-ever appearance by the World of Outlaws Late Model Series to the 1/3 mile track located in Northeastern Tennesse. The track has produced four different winners in the four previous series visits. Last year, Mike Marlar of Winfield, Tenn. captured his first-career WoO LMS victory at Tazewell but rain plagued the event back in 2013. Bub McCool of Vicksburg, Miss. captured the 2012 payday in a caution free thriller over Scott Bloomquist. Chris Madden took the Summer Sizzler 101 victory and $20,000 home to South Carolina back in 2011 while Shane Clanton of Zebulon, Ga. was victorious in the first series visit in 2010.

 

This Saturday, see the cars and stars of the World of Outlaws which include point leader Shane Clanton of Georgia; Kentucky drivers Darrell Lanigan and Eric Wells, West Virginia hot shoe Josh Richards, Illinois driver Frank Heckenast Jr., New Yorker Tim McCreadie, the Pennsylvania drivers of Rick Eckert, Mason Zeigler, Chub Frank and Rick “Boom” Briggs, Brandon Overton of Appleton, Ga., Texas driver Morgan Bagley and Jordan Yaggy of Rochester, Minn. along with the East-Tennessee stars of Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, Stacy Boles of Clinton, Jeff & Terry Wolfenbarger, Brian Hendrix and Steve Smith among other regional stars of Donald McIntosh, Austin Smith and Ray Cook.

 

Also on the racing card for the April 11th event at Tazewell Speedway will be the Sportsman racing for $800-to-win, the Classic Cars racing for $500-to-win, the Four Cylinders will race for $500-to-win and the Super Stocks will compete for $500-to-win. The Tazewell Limited Late Models will have the night off.

The Pit Gates will open at 3:00 pm on Saturday and the Grandstand gates will open at 4:00 pm. The driver’s meeting is slated for 7:00 pm. Adult general admission is $25.00 while children nine and under admitted for free. Adult pit passes are $40.00 while children ages 12 and under are $30 with a minor release.

 

A reminder to Super Late Model teams, the World of Outlaws Late Model Series tire rule for the weekend will be as follows: Hoosier 1300, 1350, 1450 & 1600 and American Racer 44, 48, 53 & 56.

 

Last weekend during the Charles Trammell Memorial at Tazewell Speedway, Jason Trammell of Knoxville, Tenn. picked up the $2,050 payday in the annual Limited Late Model event while Clyde Overholt took the win in the Sportsman division. In the Classic Car division it was Philip Thompson taking the win while Joey Allen picked up the Four Cylinder victory and Glen Hounshell took the Super Stock payday.
