Southern Nationals spokesman Chris Tilley announced during the drivers meeting on Tuesday night at 411 Motor Speedway that the newly formed Southern Nationals Bonus Series will take over sanctioning of the Blue/Gray 100 at the Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, SC. The annual fall race had originally been set as an NDRL event but the change was precipitated by that organization’s demise.

The event will run on Friday, October 24 and Saturday, October 25. The Friday race will pay $5,000-to-win while Saturday’s feature will pay $10,000-to-win.

“We are excited to bring this to Cherokee Speedway after a very successful March Madness weekend,” Tilley declared. “Lennie Buff and his crew are great to work with. I think it will be good with the new format. It will be the first time ever that it’s been under the lights on a Saturday night.”

Southern Nationals promoter Ray Cook expanded to a Spring Nationals Series in 2013 and added the Bonus series of special events at the beginning of this season.
