Southern All Stars set for consecutive shootouts in Tennessee

David Breazeale is the current SAS points leader

The 2019 Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series season is drawing to a close with only three races remaining on their schedule. And over the next two weekends a pair of those events will play out on the clay of east Tennessee as the historic tour looks to crown a champion and name its top rookie racer.

This Saturday evening the Southern All Stars will sanction a $4,000-to-win affair on the tight third-mile confines of the I-75 Raceway. It will be the first visit for the series to the Sweetwater, Tenn. facility for 2019. Cory Hedgecock of Loudon, Tenn. won this event in 2018.

Coming into the race at I-75 the SAS standings are led by David Breazeale over Zach Leonhardi, Billy Franklin, Riley Hickman and Mark Dodson. Michael Page, Ashton Winger and Joseph Joiner have each won two races contested by this series during the season.

Leonhardi leads the Rookie of the Year standings ahead of Franklin and Andrew Littleton.

Cory Hedgecock won a Southern All Stars race held at Smoky Mountain earlier this season

The following weekend the Southern All Stars will move to Smoky Mountain Speedway to contest a $7,500-to-win feature. It will be the second visit to the Maryville, Tenn. track for the tour in 2019 after Canadian Ricky Weiss scored a $5,000 win there back in April.

The series will conclude its campaign in October at the Talladega Short Track in Alabama.
