FAYETTEVILLE, TN—The Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series presented by Max Fab is at the midpoint of the month long season break, but is looking forward to the start of the second half of the season.
Jay Scott of Fayetteville, TN., is the current series points leader and well as the Cruise with the Champions/Dirtondirt.com rookie of the year Jay currently does not have a win in the first nine races but he has finished in the top ten in seven of those races.
Mark Dodson of Caledonia, MS., is second in the series standings and is also in his first full year of running with the series with his highest finish at Duck River Raceway Park.
Third place in points is Ray McElhiney of Pulaski, TN., and another driver in his first full year of traveling with the series; Ray has one top ten so far this season at Southern Raceway.
Fourth place in points is Brad Skinner of Spring Hill, TN., who has two top ten finishes so far this season and a season high second at Duck River Raceway Park.
Fifth place in points is Eric Hickerson of Linden, TN., who is in his second year with the series and has three top ten with a season high fourth at Duck River Raceway Park.
The series will return to the Blue Ridge Motorsports Park in Blue Ridge, GA., formerly known as Sugar Creek Raceway on Saturday night August 4th for a $4,000 to win event.
Then on Saturday night August 11th the biggest super late model race at the Talladega Short Track since 2008 will take place as the Governor’s Cup will pay $10,000 to the winner of the 60 lap main event.
Then the series will return to the Smoky Mt Speedway in Maryville, TN., on Saturday night August 25th for the Hall of Fame 40 paying $5,000 to win as there will be new members inducted in the Smoky Mt Speedway Hall Of Fame that night.
The month of August will have over $74,000 up for grabs in purses with the Southern All Stars so make you plans to come out and support these fine tracks and have a great time supporting short track racing.
