Scott Bloomquist looking to have another profitable fall season

Scott Bloomquist ended the 2014 Dirt Late Model season on a tear. The National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame member not only won races, but he won some of the most prestigious and lucrative events the sport has to offer. And after what has already been a successful year by the standards of most drivers, the Mooresburg, Tenn. driver is hoping for a repeat performance as the 2015 season enters its late stages.

Last year’s run of success began with the sport’s most coveted prize, the World 100 at Ohio’s Eldora Speedway. Bloomquist would like nothing better than to defend his victory in that race, especially after how things turned out at the end of the Dirt Late Model Dream event held there this earlier this year.

Bloomquist crossed the finish line ahead of the pack in the $100,000-to-win race held in June. However, the No. 0 car was found to be 25 pounds too light when it crossed the scales in post-race inspection. Jonathan Davenport was lifted to the win following Bloomquist’s disqualification.

So is Bloomquist anxious to get back to that track and earn redemption?

“We’re definitely excited about getting back there,” Bloomquist declared in an interview with InsideDirtRacing.com. “We’re still kind of in standby about the way things turned out though. We had their scales checked by the state and they were not accurate so we’re just kind of seeing what’s next.”

As is often the case, Bloomquist cites hard work and testing as reasons for his belief that he can again capture such big races as the World 100 and the Dirt Track World Championship(which will pay $100,000-to-win this year).

“I think so,” Bloomquist replied when asked if he can indeed go on another victorious run this fall. “We’ve been working hard and doing some testing. We had the Topless(at Batesville Motor Speedway) in the bag last weekend but had a bolt fall out because it wasn’t tightened. That cost us that event but we had the car to beat so we’ve just got to keep it up.”

Indeed, Bloomquist posted strong results this past weekend with a runner-up finish in the Ultimate Super Late Model Series race at Kentucky’s Ponderosa Speedway followed by a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series triumph in Lawrenceberg, IN.

Like every other driver in Dirt Late Model racing, Bloomquist has had to watch as Jonathan Davenport has piled up wins throughout the 2015 season. But the ‘Dirttrax Dominator’ believes his rival’s success has only served to make his own program better.

“He’s just made us work harder, that’s all. He’s been on a tear and he’s been running real good, but we think we’re ready.”

“The 0 car weighed light at the scales all of the other cars weighed heavy. Ohio’s Department of Weights and Measures investigated, inspected our scale and consider the matter closed.”- Roger Slack
