Cade Dillard claimed the win following the Weiss DQ

The World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series took to the Cedar Lake Speedway on Thursday night for the first of a three-race weekend that would see the Late Models combined with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series in an event broadcast by DirtVision.com. Following a unique elimination feature format used for this evening only, Canadian Ricky Weiss appeared to take the $3,000 win at the New Richmond, WI track. However, the No. 7 car failed post-race inspection and was disqualified.

Shortly after the post-race interviews, WoO Late Models officials announced the Weiss disqualification.

Case Dillard then assumed the win.

The top-16 cars in time-trials were locked into the Thursday night feature with the top-12 being inverted for the main event. A consolation race then determined the final four drivers to make the final race.

Jimmy Mars led the way in qualifying with a lap of 13.307 around the 3/8 mile clay oval beating out Scott Bloomquist, Dennis Erb Jr., Darrell Lanigan, Frank Heckenast Jr., Ashton Winger, Brandon Sheppard, Ricky Weiss, James Giossi, Rodney Sanders, A.J. Diemel and Cade Dillard.

Those twelve drivers would be inverted for the start of the feature whch would put Dillard on the pole.

Colton Horner, Brent Larson, Ricky Thornton Jr. and Pat Doar were locked into the feature but would start in positions 13-16 as they were not included in the invert.

Chase Junghans, Boom Briggs, Nick Anvelink, and Jeff Massengill were the final four cars admitted into the feature as a result of their finish in the consolation race.

After five laps in the feature the final four cars in the running order would be eliminated from the race. Following each five-lap segment the last four cars were eliminated until only eight cars remained. Then an eight-lap final dash would decide the winner.

Segment 1: Dillard won the first segment over Diemel, Sanders, Weiss and Sheppard while Massengill, Briggs, Anvelink and Junghans were eliminated from competition.

Segment 2: Dillard again took the win in the second segment ahead of Weiss, Diemel, Sanders and Sheppard while Bloomquist, Mars, Giossi and Doar were removed from the race.

Segment 3: Weiss took the win in the third segment by beating Dillard, Sanders, Diemel, Sheppard with Horner, Thornton, Larson and Winger eliminated.

Final Segment: Ricky Weiss looked to score the overall win by topping Dillard in a side-by-side shootout on the last lap. Sanders, Sheppard, Lanigan, Heckenast, Erb and Diemel followed the lead duo to the finish line.

However, the Weiss machine failed post-race inspection and was disqualified. Dillard gets the $3,000 paycheck.
