Quick Six: Word play and other hot topics

quick6

In the last edition of the Quick Six blog, we looked at time management. In this edition, we look at word play and some other recent stories in dirt racing.

  1. It’s a good thing people in big time athletics know the difference betweem the words “postponed” and “cancelled”. People in dirt racing should learn the difference.
  2. The word provisional is misused by lots of people in racing. A provisional is when a series adds drivers to the lineup based on points acculumated. When drivers are added at random or based off anything other than points is called a promoter’s option.
  3. Most tracks in the south cannot host three straight nights of practice and racing because of number of laps on the surface and track prep.
  4. Good to see some tracks in our area putting down a new surface.
  5. With tracks scheduling on top of each other, looks like many overlooked the Oct. 22 date. Very thin on the schedule and no Tennessee football game this week.
  6. In looking at the 2017 Lucas schedule, there are some interesting omissions and date changes regarding Tennessee tracks.
