Quick Six: Start of a new season

quick6

In this week’s edition of the Quick Six, we take a look at some tidbits from the opening few weeks of the season.

1. Randy Weaver went 4-for-4 during the month of March. It doesn’t look like anyone has anything for the Crossville driver at this point. It will be interesting to see how Weaver stacks up against the top drivers when the national tours come to the area in the coming weeks.

2. While I applaud the effort of the tracks that attempted to race this past weekend, it should be noted race fans won’t sit in the cold unless the heavy hitters are racing.

3. Tracks scheduling on top of other tracks still remains a problem in this area. It would be nice if ALL the area tracks would work together.

4. It would be nice to see scoreboard operators use the last two digits instead of the first two digits of cars with three digits. Having “16” on the board for Randy Weaver, as an example, makes more sense instead of “11” .

5. It seems that no matter the track, day race programs take much longer to run than night race programs. Not sure if they feel like they have all day and all night to get in their program.

6. Some area tracks are doing some good improvements to their facilities and the track surfaces. Those that have not need to step up or get left behind. Fans don’t like 40 year-old restrooms or bleachers that have seen better days.
