This edition of the Quick Six blog offers some thoughts on recent news and events in dirt late model racing.
- It’s no surprise the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series adopted the same suspension rules as many other series. Having unified rules is a good thing for the sport.
- It’s hard to believe with so much emphasis on safety that racetracks, especially high-banked, fast racetracks, do not have outside walls.
- The capacity crowd at Boyd’s Speedway for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series proves the series draws huge crowds no matter the date or even the weather.
- Fans that complain about a track calling off a show over legitimate weather concerns don’t realize the risk involved with a large purse. I don’t see any of them stepping forward to make up the difference if the promoter loses a big chunk of money.
- Race tracks that still do not post full results is doing a disservice to its fans and drivers.
- The term “outlaw racer” applies to drivers that always skip prominent races, even at their home track. There is a reason they skip those races. That’s why the term “outlaw” applies, at least to their car.
