Quick Six: random early season thoughts

quick6

In the latest edition of the quick Six blog, we take a look at some random things as the season is almost in full swing.

  1. It has been really good to see some great crowds already this season without any of them being a Lucas Oil or World of Outlaws event.
  2. Ray Cook made the right decision by disqualifying Chris Madden from the Tennessee Tipoff after hitting Scott Bloomquist’s crew chief with his car. There is no place for that in racing on any level.
  3. It’s amazing how many people that actually get in for free to the races complain about everything under the sun.
  4. The term “stock” needs to come out of racing as nearly every racecar is a ground-up build, not a converted street car.
  5. If national series are concerned about maintaining the cost of racing, the cost of engines should be addressed.
  6. Kudos to 411 Motor Speedway for moving the water truck filling area to the middle of the infield. It was in a dangerous spot, contributed to some problems in turn1, and was in the way for photographers (shameless plug).
