Live Updates: WoO Late Models at Smoky Mountain(4-27-18)

InsideDirtRacing.com will be providing live updates for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series race from Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN on Friday evening, April 27, 2018. These updates are being provided by Richard Allen( @RichardAllenIDR on Twitter).

*Please Note: These updates will focus primarily on the WoO Late Models race.

General Information:

Drivers meeting is set for 6:00pm.

Weather is expected to be dry and mild.

Brandon Sheppard currently leads the WoO Late Models standings over Chris Madden, Mike Marlar, Rick Eckert, Shane Clanton, Chase Junghans, Brandon Overton, Chub Frank, Morgan Bagley and Billy Moyer, Jr.

Brandon Overton won the lone WoO Late Models race at Smoky Mountain last year.

This is the first of a two-night event. Both features will pay $10,000-to-win.

These races were originally slated for early March but were postponed due to weather. This is the first event of the season at Smoky Mountain Speedway.

6:15- Drivers meeting has concluded.

7:15- Finishing track prep. Hot laps should begin soon.

7:40- Hot laps for the Mini-stock cars have concluded. WoO Late Models about to hit the track.

*Culp did not make it out for the start. Tight racing early on as Madden, Clanton and McDowell went three-wide for the lead on lap 2. Once Madden broke away from that battle he controlled the race.

*Sheppard dominated. The best battle was between Marlar and Buckingham for second. Moses brought out a caution on lap 5 when he slowed on track.

Lap 2 caution for Culp slow on track. Madden leads Clanton, Moran, Marlar, Sheppard.

Apparently Culp was struck by a piece of debris that came inside his car. Safety personnel checking him out. He walks into ambulance under his own power.

Lap 3 caution for third running Sheppard in the turn 2 wall. Heavy smoke as he pulls into the pit area. Appears as if he is out for the night. Madden leads.

Halfway- Madden dominating. Clanton, Moran, Buckingham, Marlar, Roberts, McDowell and Chilton follow.

Lap 34 caution for McDowell. Madden just crushing the field so far. Clanton, Moran, Buckingham, Roberts, Chilton, Marlar, Erb, Ferguson, Eckert follow.

Madden was never really challenged.
