November still has plenty of racing action to offer around the area

The calendar may be in the process of winding its way toward the end of 2014, but that doesn’t mean the racing action around our region is over. As a matter of fact, several big events still remain on the schedule across east Tennessee and beyond over the course of the next few days and weeks.

This coming weekend offers two of those special events.

On Saturday(Nov. 15), Mitch and Tanya McCarter will host the inaugural Street Stock Nationals at their 411 Motor Speedway. The Street Stocks will race for a lucrative prize of $2,000-to-win. Also, Limited Late Models will compete for a $1,000-to-win purse while the Sportsman division will go for $700-to-win in this season finale on the Seymour, Tenn. track.

The action will get underway on Saturday at 411 with a 1:00pm drivers meeting and cars on track soon thereafter.

This coming weekend(Nov. 13-15) will also see the renewal of the annual ‘Deep Fried 75’ race just to the west of our immediate region at the Duck River Raceway Park in Wheel, Tenn. This three day event will feature a practice session on Thursday with qualifying and heat racing for Super Late Model cars with sanctioning from the Southern Nationals Bonus Series on Friday night followed by the $11,000-to-win main event to be staged on Saturday. Several support classes will also be in action on the high-banked quarter-mile.

Due to expected cold temperatures, start times at Duck River have recently been adjusted. The drivers meeting for Friday is now set for 4:30(central) with the action getting underway at noon on Saturday.

The traditional east Tennessee racing event known as ‘The Gobbler’ will run as a two-day event this year on two separate tracks on the weekend of November 21-22.

On Friday(Nov. 21), the newly re-opened Cleveland Speedway will host its portion of ‘The Gobbler’ with a $5,000-to-win Southern All Stars promoted Super Late Model race serving as the feature attraction. The track’s other classes will also be running in support of the touring series affair.

Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA will then take up the action in its half of ‘The Gobbler’ on Saturday(Nov. 22). An unsanctioned Super Late Model race will headline the event that will also feature the track’s support classes in action.

And finally, the I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, Tenn. may be planning a special event for Saturday, Nov. 29. More details will be provided on that race if/when everything is finalized.
