Mike Marlar was fastest in Group B qualifying and overall for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series season opener at All-Tech Raceway in Lake City, FL. However, that was not necessarily to biggest news for the Winfield, TN driver to be revealed on Saturday night.
During his post-qualifying interview with Lucas Oil Racing TV reporter Dave Argabright, Marlar announced that he and his Ronnie Delk-owned team would be competing full time with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
“We’re going to run with the Lucas Oil Series this year,” Marlar said. “We were going to try it last year but COVID got in the way. Now that we’re getting past that and things seem to be getting back to normal we’re going to do it.”
Marlar won the World of Outlaws Morton Buildngs Late Model Series championship in 2018. He is also a two-time winner of the Knoxville Late Model Nationals at the famed Knoxville Raceway in Iowa.
