Originally, Gatlinburg’s Mack McCarter had been scored as the 4th place finisher in Friday afternoon’s NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series season opener at the Golden Isles Speedway in Waynesville, GA. However, the McCarter Brothers Racing driver has been moved up to a 3rd place result after it was discovered that original 3rd place runner Jak Kicklighter had chemically altered tires on the rear of his race car.
Tire samples from race winner Ray Cook and 2nd place finisher Joey Coulter were found to be legal in post-race lab tests. Kicklighter was fined $500 and has been issued a 30-day suspension by the series.
McCarter is still positioned in 3rd place of the series standings after the weekend of racing at Golden Isles but he has moved to within 4 points of leader Ray Cook and just two markers behind Walker Arthur.
