Mack McCarter earns 604 Late Model win at 411

Mack McCarter was dominant on Friday night

The first day of a racing-filled weekend at the 411 Motor Speedway took place on Friday afternoon with part one of the 5th annual Leftover event. The 604 Crate Late Model division headlined the action with Mack McCarter ultimately scoring the win. The Gatlinburg, TN driver took the $1,000 first prize away from the Seymour, TN track.

Adam Ahl proved to be fastest in qualifying by posting a lap of 15.647 seconds around the 3/8 mile clay oval to beat out Mack McCarter, Zach Sise, Brian Smith, Greg Martin, Tanner Collins, Eli Beets, Josh Henry, Jason Cardwell, Cameron Weaver, Brandon Williams and Carder Miller.

The top-12 from time-trials were locked into the feature.

Bradley Lewelling won the first B-main of the night ahead of Tyler Hoy, Austin Langley and Joe Mike.

Christian Hanger was the victor in the second preliminary over Michael Bland, Justin Fulton and Chris Coffey.

Buddy George beat out Kenny Kizzar, Jeff Wilson and Kevin Copher in the third and final B-main.

On the initial attempt to start the 25-lap feature the car of third-starting Smith appeared to falter causing a jam up further back. Smith pulled off track and out of the race.

When the green flag waved for the second time it was McCarter who bolted from the outside of the front row to take the lead over Ahl, Size, Collins and Henry. McCarter was dominant from the very beginning as he quickly began to pull away from his pursuers.

Henry passed by Collins on lap 4 to take fourth just before a yellow flag waved one lap later. On the ensuing restart, Martin passed by Collins to move into the top-5. Soon afterward, Hanger also went by Collins to grab sixth.

But over the second half of the race, McCarter’s biggest challenge came from the slower traffic as he found himself weaving in and out of those machines. But no one was ever able to get close enough to threaten his grip on the lead.

Feature Finish: 1. Mack McCarter, 2. Adam Ahl, 3. Zach Sise, 4. Josh Henry, 5. Greg Martin, 6. Christian Hanger, 7. Tanner Collins, 8. Eli Beets, 9. Jason Cardwell, 10. Brandon Williams, 11.
