A sweltering summer night was only matched by the red-hot on-track action at the Crossville Speedway this past Friday night.

The Open Wheel Modifieds kicked off the feature action with Joey Cotterman setting fast time with a 13.75 lap around the high-banked 1/3 mile facility. Cotterman would go wire to wire for the feature win with Dustin Diden in second. Billy Palmer, Matthew Hopper, and Chad Crain rounding out the top five as Courtney Smith and Clark McPeters rounded out the field.

In Front Wheel Drive action, Carl Warfield and Amelia McClain led the field to the green flag, but it was all Warfield in the feature as he led every lap for the win. Cody Rector, after having to start in the back due to a rule violation, battled his way up to second. McClain had to settle for third place with Jacob Sharp and Trevor Sampson rounding out the top five. Ashton Allen, Aaron DeSabris, and Colton Proffitt closed out the field.

The big money race of the evening was the Dwarf class as they ran for a hefty $250 pay-day. Dwayne Allen and Rodney Hall led the field to the green flag with Allen leading the first ten laps with hot and heavy pressure from Jonathan Allen, but Dwayne Allen spun on lap number eleven, giving the lead to son Jonathan. The next ten laps saw Jonathan and Ron Dodson swap the lead six times in a fierce battle that saw Dodson take advantage of a late bobble by Jonathan Allen to lead the last and most important lap for the $250 pay-day. Dwayne Allen battled his way all the way back to second with Jonathan Allen relegated to third. Rodney Hall and Nick Winsett rounded out the top five. Sixth through tenth were Dillon Hall, Chris Flatt, Anthony Coffman, Rick Davis, and Michael Norris. The remainder of the field was comprised of Tyler Brown and Cletus Brumbalough. Austin Burton was unable to start the feature.

Jesse Lowe was again the man to beat at Crossville Speedway in the Crate Late Model class, with “The Lowe Show” leaving the fans in awe with a fast time of 13.02 and a flag-to-flag feature win. Chase Walls, Andy Miller, Troy Davenport, and Michael Smith rounded out the top five as Joe Cline, Jonathan Hampton, and Dustin Frazier closed out the field.

In the Sportsman class, it was Jaylon Shannon dropping jaws with a 12.93 fast time in qualifying and leading all but one lap in the feature to pick up the win over cousin Zach Shannon. Brandon Stanfield, Perry Delaney, and Jeremy Shannon closed out the top five. Sixth through tenth in the running order were Anthony Conley, Ricky Tinch, Jimbo Breland, Todd Gregory, and Doug Gordon. D.J. Shannon, Jeff Cotterman, and Jeff Walker rounded out the field.

The final race of the night was another intense affair as Jason Savage and Tim Kilby led the field to the green flag with Savage leading the first six laps until Kilby slid past on lap seven and held off the stiff competition from Savage to win the feature by a nose. Jeff Proffitt, Scott Brown, and Josh Stoglin rounded out the top of the five. The rest of the field was Donnie King, Buck Hoffman, Andrew Rice, Justin Turner, and Dustin Stafford.

Thursday night, the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals roar onto the plateau with notable regional and national stars such as Vic Hill, Steve Casebolt, Donald McIntosh, Brandon Overton, Craig Vosbergen, Billy Ogle Jr., Ricky Weiss, and more coming to Crossville Speedway for a $3,500-to-win, 35-lap feature race.
