LOLMDS race at Volunteer canceled

BATAVIA, OH (March 20, 2018) – Thursday’s Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned, 16th Annual Spring Thaw at Volunteer Speedway has been canceled. With the forecast for accumulating snow and overnight lows below freezing on Wednesday, Speedway and Series officials have agreed to cancel the event.
 
“The entire staff at Volunteer Speedway have worked very hard to make this event possible,” said Rick Schwallie, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Director. “Unfortunately, with an outdoor sport, we’re at the mercy of the elements and we have to consider what’s best for everyone involved. With no suitable makeup date in 2018, we look forward to working with Mitch McCarter and his team in 2019,” Schwallie added.
 
On Friday night, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will head to Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA. The “Shamrock” will include a complete program of: Miller Welders Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains, and a $12,000-to-win main event. The pit gates will open at 2:00pm, followed by general admission at 4:00pm. A free concert to fans by Georgia native, Cecil Allen Moore that will begin at 5:00pm, prior to on-track action, starting at 7:00pm. East Alabama Motor Speedway will wrap up the weekend action with the 21st Annual Bama Bash on Saturday, March 24. The event will include a complete program of: Miller Welders Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains, and highlighted by a 50-lap, $12,000-to-win main event. The pit gates will open at 2:00pm, followed by general admission at 4:00pm. A driver autograph session will take place at 5:00pm before Hot Laps begin at 7:00pm.
