Live Updates: WoO Late Models Winter Freeze at Screven(2-8-19)

InsideDirtRacing.com will be providing live updates from the opening night of the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series Winter Freeze IX at Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, GA on Friday night, February 8, 2019. The updates will be provided by Richard Allen(@RichardAllenIDR on Twitter).

General Information:

This is the opening weekend of the 2019 WoO Late Models season with two events to be held at Screven Motor Speedway.

Weather is expected to be mild with no chance for rain.

Mike Marlar was the 2018 WoO Late Models champion.

The drivers meeting is slated for 6:00pm with hot laps to follow soon afterwards.

5:30- Drivers meeting about to start.

6:10- Hot laps for all classes should begin soon.

6:35- WoO Late Model hot laps coming soon.

7:20- All hot laps have concluded.

Lap 1 caution. Wild racing as the top cars went four wide in turn 3. Madden bounced off the wall and fell back. Overton leads Junghans, Shirley, Lanigan, Marlar

Lap caution as James spins and Briggs drives underneath him. Overton leads Shirley, Junghans,  Weiss, Lanigan Marlar, Sheppard,  Madden, Moyer, Clanton

Taking some time to get the James and Briggs cars separated.

10:22- Back to green

Lap 4 caution as Marlar got sideways and several cars jammed up behind him. Overton leads Shirley, Lanigan, Weiss, Junghans, Sheppard, Madden, Clanton,  Moyer

Lap 8 caution for spin by Smith. The racing is very intense. Overton leads a great battle between Shirley and Lanigan.  Weiss is fourth and Madden has moved back up to fifth.

Lap 34 caution for Covert. Great racing.  Overton leads Shirley,  Lanigan,  Madden,  Sheppard

Caution on the restart as Casebolt, Moyer and Hardy tangle

Madden closed in traffic at the end but Overton held on.
